Supported Living Ministerial Visit

New Site at Perrydown
On Thursday 25 March Mr John Healey MP, Minister of Housing and Dr Phyllis Starkey, MP for Milton Keynes South West, paid an official visit to the newly opened supported living service at Perrydown in Milton Keynes.
The ministerial visit was arranged by Grand Union Housing Group, owners of the property, following the official opening on 3 March. The event was hosted by tenant, Colin Waters, previously a resident of the care home at Bracken House for 30 years, and now proud tenant of his own flat at Perrydown. Colin rather stole the show (resplendent with white bow tie) chatting to all & sundry, and quipping how he had kept an eye on the builders during the development. (There was a lovely moment when Colin left the dignitaries in the lounge and popped outside to have a hard-earned cigarette - see the photo.)
Lorraine McGinley, Fremantle Trust’s manager of the supported living service at Perrydown (and formerly manager of Bracken House) praised Hill Construction for their “brilliant and responsive approach to residents and staff throughout the building programme.”
Leon Ferreira, Deputy Chief Executive of the Fremantle Trust said, “We are so pleased with the wonderful accommodation which Grand Union has provided for tenants and which will enhance their lives significantly in many ways. The outcome for service users is extremely positive.” Mr Healey declared himself very impressed with the success achieved by the partnership.
